August 2016

Iceland

03

My family and I took this trip to Iceland at the end of August 2016.  My nine year old son picked this mysterious and out of the beaten path destination.  When I asked him why he selected Iceland he said, "it seems cool."

We stayed in the city capital, Reykjevic, and spent seven days making day trips that included:

The city sightseeing tour, lava tube caving--highly recommend it (hiking a cave with tight spaces at time was both fascinating and a bit challenging), the blue lagoon, the golden circle tour, which stops at the Gulfoss waterfall, three craters, the Geysers, a national park where parliament met for many years--good acoustics, and a northern lights tour from 9 through midnight, which did not reveal the northern lights due to a cloudy sky, but mom and I enjoyed the biggest laugh of our trip--the tickets will be good for two years.

Traveling with my son and my mother, who's in her early 70s now, has been one of the biggest gifts I've been able to enjoy in life.  Together, we're building family memories that I know will last us a lifetime!

This is a very family friendly place, and has exquisite views and attractions for all to enjoy.
